Our mentors are here to answer your questions and serve as a guide during your first year as a college student.

Inoushka MejÃas

Inoushka studies Interdisciplinary Sciences at the University of Puerto Rico, Rio Piedras Campus. She is interested in helping students start on the right track on their first year as an undergraduate. She also wants to help them improve their academic performance and guide them on their way to graduate school. Her future plans include studying medicine and become a cardiologist.

Harumi DÃaz​

Harumi studied interdisciplinary sciences at the University of Puerto Rico RÃo Piedras Campus. Her main interests are helping pre-med students apply for medical school and design better study modules for General Biology. As a Biology Tutor and peer mentor, Harumi is very passionate when it comes to innovating new curriculum ideas in order for students to excel in different academic areas. Along with her peers, she offers workshops on study techniques, time management and summer research opportunities. Her future plans include pursuing a degree in educational leadership and curriculum design in scince.

Faviana Alicano

Faviana Alicano studies Nutrition and Dietetics at the University of Puerto Rico, Rio Piedras Campus. After finishing her studies in Nutrition she aspires to become a Doctor. Currently she is a Chapter Directive Member for the American Medical Student Association (AMSA - UPRRP), and an active member of El CÃrculo de Dietética. She decided to become a Peer Mentor to be able to help other students throughout their academic career development by sharing her personal experience with classes, summer programs and extracurricular activities.


Cristina ValentÃn
Cristina studies Molecular/Cellular Biology at the University of Puerto Rico, RÃo Piedras Campus. She is interested in helping students start on the right track on their way to medical school and graduate school. She tutors Organic Chemistry and, as a mentor, she is interested in creating awareness of all the resources that are available to students. She is also passionate about encouraging students to start being competitive and both, manage their time, and use it wisely, in order to benefit their personal growth. Cristina intends to study medicine and become a gynecologist.
Paola Andino
Paola studies Interdisciplinary Sciences at the University of Puerto Rico, Rio Piedras Campus. Her main interests are to inform about the university resources so that they can achieve their goals succesfully. As a mentor, she hopes to serve as a guide for freshmen and sophomore students in order to improve their academic performance and skills. She decided to become a Peer mentor to share her college experience as a science student and to guide incoming and current undergraduate students in their different paths to academic success. Her future plans are to study Medicine and become a Neurosurgeon.
